One day an acquaintance met the great philosopher and said, \u201cDo you know what I just heard about your friend?\u201d \u201cHold on a minute,\u201d Socrates replied. \u201cBefore telling me anything I\u2019d like you to pass a little test. It\u2019s called the Triple Filter Test.\u201d \u201cTriple filter?\u201d \u201cThat\u2019s right,\u201d Socrates continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBefore you talk to me about my friend, it might be a good idea to take a moment and filter what you\u2019re going to say. That\u2019s why I call it the triple filter test. The first filter is Truth. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-453 aligncenter\" alt=\"Pinochio\" src=\"http:\/\/www.joycejuster.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Pinochio.jpg\" width=\"180\" height=\"106\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo,\u201d the man said, \u201cActually, I just heard about it and\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll right,\u201d said Socrates. \u201cSo you don\u2019t really know if it\u2019s true or not. Now let\u2019s try the second filter, the filter of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about my friend something good\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-454 aligncenter\" alt=\"Pinochio2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.joycejuster.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Pinochio2.jpg\" width=\"92\" height=\"115\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The man said, \u201cNo, on the contrary\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo,\u201d Socrates continued, \u201cyou want to tell me something bad about him, but you\u2019re not certain it\u2019s true. You may still pass the test though, because there\u2019s one filter left: the filter of Usefulness.
