If someone we know walked past us without saying hello, we might think, \u201cs\/he deliberately ignored me,\u201d \u201cs\/he\u2019s being snooty and rude,\u201d s\/he didn\u2019t want to talk to me because they don\u2019t like me\u201d and so on. This might lead us to feel upset, and react in ways that are unhelpful. The only fact is that the person walked past. Anything else is opinion\u2014our own personal interpretation of the event. We don\u2019t have any facts or know the reality of why that happened unless we ask them. We could just as well think, \u201cmaybe they didn\u2019t see me,\u201d \u201cmaybe they were worrying about something.\u201d Those are more positive thoughts\u2014but they are still a personal interpretation of the event.
